My name is Jody Spears. I am co-owner of A+ Licensed Tutor.

I graduated from Edison State with an Associate in Arts. Then, I graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Allied Professions in Middle School Education with endorsements in Social Science and Language Arts. I also have a Masters in Education and Health Science for School Counseling.

I have taught grades 6-9 but most of my time has been in 7th and 8th grade.

My favorite part about tutoring is working with a student one-on-one where I can plan for their unique learning style. Then, watching as the smile lights up their face when they really start understanding a concept. I also enjoy watching their progress through the year and their confidence grow.

It is truly hard to name just one hero. My parents and grandparents would be at the top of my list.

Again, I have a problem choosing just one. Young adult books hold a special place in my heart. I read Harry Potter to my boys, so it is at the top of my list. I love The Hunger Games series, Divergent, Eragon, Night, and Freak the Mighty to name a few. My favorite adult book series is by Janet Evanovich about a bounty hunter named Stephanie Plumb. Each book is a funny, light-hearted look into her life of being a “bounty hunter.”

My proudest accomplishment is raising my two boys as a single mom.

I would have to say what makes me laugh the most right now are the cute things my little grandbabies do.

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would visit Australia or New Zealand.

My name is Kathelyn Immel. I am co-owner of A+ Licensed Tutoring.

I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelors in Business Management.

I manage the office. I also match the students with a tutor that I feel will be the best fit. I enjoy greeting all the students and helping parents with any questions or problems.

I'm not a tutor but my favorite part of this job is to see the positive changes in our students. At first they come in timid and quiet, but after a few sessions they come in with smiles and sharing their successes at school.

My favorite book is Dead Certain by J. Lorin.

My proudest accomplishment was going back to school at almost 40 to get my associates, then continuing on to get my bachelors in business management.

If I could travel anywhere, it would be ANY place warm! I love cruise ships that take me to sandy beaches.

I love to teach in the younger grades, particularly in Kindergarten.

I love tutoring because I am able to focus on helping that particular child in the areas they need help. I enjoy seeing their lightbulb turn on .

As a child, I enjoyed reading the Little House series. I wanted to be just like Laura Ingalls Wilder.

My proudest accomplishment are my two boys. They are my whole world, and they make me laugh and smile.

I would love to travel back to Hawaii where I went on our honeymoon. It was the most beautiful place I have ever been.

Grades 1st through 4th are my favorite, but I taught 2nd grade the longest.

My favorite part about tutoring is assisting a student in accomplishing his/her set goals. There is nothing better than watching their confidence grow, and celebrating all of their hard work.

Hero: I have been blessed with many influential people in my life, and there is no way that I can choose just one!

Hi, my name is Hope Smith.
-
I have a bachelor's in English Linguistics with a concentration in American Sign Language (ASL) and a disability studies minor. I also just graduated from Cincinnati State’s Interpreter training program. I enjoy working with children of all ages and abilities, but I specifically enjoy working alongside younger children (K-4) and children with varying disabilities. I adore teaching reading and writing, working with fine and gross motor skills, as well as English and American Sign Language with the older students.

My favorite thing about tutoring is learning new ways to explain and work through topics. Every child learns differently, so finding the way that clicks with the student I am working with is really rewarding.

As substitute teacher with Troy City schools as well as a tutor at A+, I work with the most amazing teachers and educators in the area. I think that the teachers, administrative members, and other local school staff are amazing people, and I truly look up to them.

I love to read and listen to audio books with my all-time favorite book series being Eragon (the Inheritance Trilogy). My favorite authors are Stephen King, Maya Angelou, and John Green. I love psychological thrillers, Sci-fi, poetry, and YA fiction.
